The Matang Magrove Reserve is an awesome place to visit. There are boardwalks that go through the park for your enjoyment. I think we paid around 10 ringgit (<3 USD) to get into the park . There are river cruises you can take in search of rare freshwater dolphins but we did not have time to do that. Super awesome place to see that has very few foreign visitors.

This sleepy fishing village is a really cool place to see. Near the tiny market in the middle of the village is a concrete walking/scooter bridge that crosses the river. This is where I took this photo and is the best place to see the heart of the village.
